The Waterfall and Back of the Garden...
Please click the photo for a larger version. This was right after we finished tweaking the waterfall.
Other Influences...
Despite the fact that I'm primarily into Japanese garden design, I realized that I've acquired quite a bit of native Australian plants as well. I don't know what it is, but I'm always attracted to Tea Trees (especially dwarf versions), Grevillea, Peppermint Willow (purple) and the tall, slender Eucalyptus Citriodora Trees (Lemon Scented Gum). It's worked out in my favor though as they go ever-so-well with Japanese shrubs and trees and are mostly all drought tolerant for southern California. (PICS TO FOLLOW)

Japanese Maples (Acer Palmatums)
Here are a few in the yard that still have a nice amount of foliage...
OSHIO BENI

SUMINAGASHI

EMPEROR I

SANGO-KAKU (Coral Bark)

I also have a small 2 year old BENI-GASA and a 3 year old GARNET WEEPING that bear no foliage at the moment. These little guys are being treated with kid gloves. Here's what they will eventually look like:

Helllllooo New Blog!
And helllloooo garden peoples! I've been slaving away nights and weekends in my backyard as a first attempt at creating a Japanese Garden. It sort of blends the Hill and Pond style with the Tea Garden style-- as you will soon see when i start posting photos. I'm constantly learning more and more about landscape and horticulture and have also developed a little obsession with Japanese Maple Trees. Jonah and I also just finished the waterfall and pond in the very back of the yard complete with a large granite viewing stone. Yay!
